SERIES
Death, Birth and Life
This is series of my creative works, | explore the intertwined themes of death, birth, and life, believing that they coexist in our daily experiences, each serving its unique purpose and guiding us towards the future. While the end of one cycle may lead to a new beginning, it doesn’t always signify something negative. Birth can bring about new ideas, opportunities, or challenges. Life itself is a precious gift that we should embrace fully.
I encourage viewers to find happiness in overcoming challenges, to live courageously in the face of adversity, and to choose their emotional responses to life’s ups and downs. Ultimately, how we interpret and react to these phases is an individual choice that shapes our journey. I delve into the themes of death, birth, and life through the symbolic language of tarot cards as I view tarot as a magical realm that offers hope and guidance, helping us navigate life’s complexities with positivity and resilience. Each painting in this series will also feature earthen pots, serving as a nod to my Asian heritage and personal identity.
Through this unique combination of tarot imagery and earthen pots, aim to convey the universal truths of our existence while celebrating the cultural nuances that shape our individual journeys. I invite viewers to contemplate these themes, embracing the cyclical nature of life and the power of choice in shaping our destiny.
Past, Present, Future
“Inspired by the majestic statues of yazhis found in Chola temples during my travels to India, | delved deeper into their symbolic significance. Yazhis, powerful animal hybrids, stand guard at temple entrances, embodying strength and protection.
Drawing from the essence of yazhis and juxtaposing it with universally recognized road symbols, I’ve created a series that intertwines ancient symbolism with contemporary imagery. This fusion serves as a reflection on my life’s journey, bridging the past, present, and future.
Utilizing a diverse range of media—including oil, bitumen, acrylic, and markers—I aim to convey depth, texture, and layers of meaning in each artwork.”
